Anybody ever encounter a very strange coincidence?

Asked by daytonamisticrip (4859points) October 22nd, 2010

What is the strangest, most bizarre, or creepy coincidence you’ve experienced?
I know this person who was talking with a friend and randomly out of the blue said ” I don’t know what I would do without my mother” next day her mom died.
Anybody know any weirder coincidences?

Many times my oldest grandson and I start the same idea/conversation at exactly the same time. He says to me “Get out of my head”.

I met a person at a fair, and we both walked up to each other and said, “Don’t I know you from somewhere” but we couldn’t figure out where. Are names were similar too.

Teaching a specialized hotel class 800 miles away from my hometown and finding out that one of the students was the daughter of my high school English teacher.

Here is another one for you, although I wasn’t there to witness it. A co-worker was in his home town airport to catch a flight and was strolling towards the gate. Passing a bank of pay-phones, one of them started to ring. Since he had time to kill before the flight and no one else was in the general area, he decided to be hospitable and answer it to let the caller know that no one was there.

It turned out to be his cousin on the other line who had received a page to call that number. This was in St. Louis, so it wasn’t like it was a small airport. And we’ve never known this guy to lie or embellish, so I’m willing to bet that it happened, as freaky as it is.

I have had more than one strange coincidence happen to me. The best one is my first husband and I found a regular smoking pipe in a small park with this eagle’s nest type view in Springfield, MO. We put it and it’s holder in our glove compartment and forgot about it. When we couldn’t afford to commute from my hometown to work in Springfield, MO anymore we became homeless with a car. The first night this sweet gay man that was a clerk at a convenience store let us stay at his apartment. We stayed up late talking and he told us this crazy long story about these guys he thought were friends and how they had stolen his smoking pipe. He described it in detail and my hubby and I looked at each other in amazement and ran out to retrieve the pipe in the glove compartment, and it was his! Very cool.

I met a teacher of mine from the United States at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Neither of us knew the other was even in France when this occurred.

Gracious, I just thought of another. I was in Baltimore to inspect a hotel. While checking the breakfast area, I noticed a guy at one of the tables that looked really familiar. It finally came to me, so I went over and said, “Excuse me, but are you ‘John Doe’?” Indeed, he was. It was my cousin who lives in Seattle and was staying there to attend a business meeting. If I had inspected that area 30 minutes earlier or later, it never would have happened.
