Would you be flattered or creeped out if someone told you they had a dream about you?

Asked by bb9335 (98points) October 27th, 2010

If someone who was attracted to you had a dream about you, and told you, how would you react? Would you be flattered or would you think it was creepy? It’s not like we can choose our dreams right?

Flattered.

Actually, I wouldn’t care one way or the other.

I have had a dream about a fellow jelly.

Might depend on what the dream involved. :)

Depends on two factors.

1. If i’m attracted to them too
2. What the dream was about

If I am attracted to them also & the dream was, well pleasant. Then yeah, definitely flattering :¬)

I agree with @Adirondackwannabe. While I put no stock into the meaning of dreams, if a friend or co-worker told me that they had a dream where I was just there – no problem. If they said the dream consisted of a passionate tryst or they were attempting to harm me, it would be a bit creepy if they thought it meant something.

well to put it into context. I work with a friend who I am very attracted to, and I had a dream where she kept coming onto me and I was most definitely going along with it.

I’m not planning on telling her, but I’d like to think if things were flipped and she had the dream about me that I would like to know :)

Unless you are positive she feels the same way I wouldn’t share that with her. That would creep me out if an acquaintance shared that with me.

People tell me that they have dreams about me all the time. I always find it flattering. Nice to know that even someone’s subconscious is thinking about me.

I think Fluther is attracted to me… “We dreamt about you last night.”

Call me creeped out.

@erichw1504 Thank you for the first long, hearty laugh of the day!

If it was a pleasant dream, I like it. It a subconscious compliment.
If it was unpleasant, then they were mistaken. That person just looked like me but I’m much better built.

I have been both flattered and mortified. ;)

Every time someone (male or female) tells me that they had a dream about me, I always respond with “How was I?”

You know, it would really depend on who it is and whether or not they were thinking about freaky sex. If they’re freaks, well, than, oh, hell nah. I don’t want to know.

Depends on the person.

I was talking to a friend just about an hour ago and mentioned that I had had a dream about how I was getting older and would die eventually. She told me that she had had a dream also about the same time that I was drowning but she jumped in and was able to save me first. I don’t know how much to read into these dreams!

I have a dream interpretation theory. The first principle is that every character in the dream is an aspect of the dreamer. The second is that if you can tease out the emotions of the scene and the dreamers feelings about the characters in the dream, you may be able get a better sense of what is going on.

It’s funny that you ask, because not two hours ago someone told me they had had a dream about me. A very flattering dream.

It was all I could do to try not to take the dream personally. Like I said, it was a very flattering dream. But it wasn’t really about me. It was about an aspect of her that her brain used me to symbolize. I asked her what role I played in her life, and she said she saw me as a teacher. So in this case, her inner teacher was being very kind to her, an idea that has a great deal of significance to her, since it is only recently that she started thinking she was worth being kind to.

She’s come a long way, and I am quite happy for her. It would have been nice if the dream could be interpreted more literally, although there’s nothing I could do about that, anyway.

I’ve been both, depending on who the person was that had the dream. I will say that I’ve had dreams about several jellies in the past. Not necessarily erotic dreams, just dreams in general.

OK, so a few were erotic, but nobody has to know, right?

Depends on the person and type of dream. I have had both scenarios and some have been downright stalkerish. Speaking of All that you Dream ;)

Always flattered.

It is a dream after all. Nice that you are on their mind. Even if it was you trying to chop their head off.

downtide's avatar

It depends on who it was and what was involved in the dream.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Flattered but I wouldn’t want to know the details.

Dreams are so magical. I would be very happy and glad to be a part of one.
