Who was the the industralist found buried on the Woolworth Building site in NY?

How did the death come about? It is said his body was found while constructing the building in 1913.

I’ve never heard about a body being found there. From what I could find, it was a reference in The Bone Collector (under references in pop culture). I’m not sure if it really happened or not though.
