I’m feeding Katawagrey and a few friends. It’s laid back, fun and funny, and a perfect start to the season. Any Jellies that want to stop by are welcome, we always have enough fun, food and frivolity for everyone!

Happy Turkey Day to you as well. I prepared my dishes for the family dinner yesterday, so I’m spending my morning having coffee and a light breakfast. Later travelling to Mom’s to eat, than sit around and talk and laugh and reminisce. Then back home to see what has been happening on Fluther. Sounds like a good day to me:D
Like @JilltheTooth all are welcome! Mom cooks up a storm;-)

The family is coming here 12 people. Our nephew has 2 year old twins that are cute as buttons. Free entertainment.
And we don’t have to travel!

I’m going over to my aunts for dinner. My dad is on call today, so he’s doing Thanksgiving this weekend.

@worriedguy I don’t have to go far either! I can walk to my SIL’s gathering and after the first bottle of wine, my MIL will be the main stage entertainment!

Enjoy @papayalily!

@Cruiser : I was sitting here thinking you were nuts for Fluthering when you’re having people over. You should be prepping… then it occured to me that I’m the pot!

@JilltheTooth lol! Nope! I get this one off and let the SIL do most of the work! Got the Sweet Potato pie done last night….my son baked his now famous apple pie and did a bonus corn bread last night! Getting hungry already!!

Unfortunately, over here in England my day will not be as fun as yours I would imagine. I have been working for the majority of the day maybe I could persuade the fella to dine out with me this evening?!.

Seaofclouds's avatar

@JilltheTooth If I was closer, I would stop by!

I am going to a friends house for dinner. She is doing the majority of the cooking (well her and her husband). I made pumpkin pies that I will be taking over with me in a few hours. As far as I know, we will be having turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, rolls, cranberry sauce, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin pies.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today, no matter what they do!

Having a nice quiet dinner, just the two of us this year, by choice. All the traditional food, none of the chaos! Happy day to all the jellies!

It’s 7:15 here, my guests have left, it’s just me and the dishwasher working overtime. A fabulous time was had by all, the food was delicious, the company even better, a totally successful holiday, Norman Rockwell would be proud. No angst, no criticism, just a lovely convivial time, everybody thankful and charming. It was so wonderful, I’m almost puking from the fabulosity of it all.
@Seaofclouds : I have two guest rooms, maybe next year!

Got turned back on the highway by ground blizzards and zero visibility, so it didn’t end up going as planned. Thank heavens Walmart had a thawed turkey and I was able to whip up an impromptu feast and the day turned out more fun than anticipated.
At least, it was fun once the stress wore off. Adrenaline from those wretched road conditions made my entire body ache.

@Blueroses I’m glad you didn’t caught in the middle of the terrible weather and your day turned out fun after all. Have a glass of wine (or imaginary glass) with YARNLADY and me :D

@AmWiser Thank you! Don’t mind if I do :-)

@noelleptc It’s just not cranberry jelly if it doesn’t have the can “rings” on it. I love it too but it can only be eaten one day a year.

After a nine day, 110 hour “work week” – at a farm – where we sold over 6000 fresh turkeys (in five days) – I thankfully had today off.

We fed thirteen family members 26lbs. of turkey, all the sides you would imagine (mostly vegetarian) and a half dozen pies.

Played some Wii Bowling, listened to some jazz and collapsed.

A great day, but back to work tomorrow.

I made myself a turkey. I gave up on the idea of carving a block of turkey Spam into a turkey shape. But I did use the other cheap-o stuff, like pre-made mashed potatoes, canned green beans (actually not cheap as it was from some la-de-da southern cooking company thing), and Stove Top Stuffing.

I do have a can of jellied cranberry sauce that I forgot about. I’m not sure how I forgot about it, since it was sitting on the counter, but there you go. I’m going to use it to make turkey and cranberry sauce sandwiches tomorrow.
