She is not spayed and I have never seen this before in any of my female cats.

Um vet right now!!

She may have her period if she’s not spayed, but I have no idea!

Keep her inside after you take her to the vet….

And be prepared to hear yowling outside :P The male cats will be calling to her! lol.

Is she not spayed?

I think bleeding isn’t ever “normal”. That’s why there are vets.

It’s never good when your pussy is bleeding.

They bleed when they are in heat. And as squirbel said be prepared for TONS of yowling male cats outside, they come from miles around when they can smell a female in heat. If she is an inside cat she will try to get out EVERY chance she gets.

If she is spayed be sure and call the vet, because that isn’t normal.

Cats are obsessive groomers and you won’t always see evidence of their heat cycles because they will clean and clean but menstruation is normal in any mammal. Is she intact? (not spayed) as others mentioned? Cats are different from other pets in that they don’t have seasonal cycles but will go into “heat” continually until bred or spayed.

My guess she got it pretty hard. Male cats I understand have like a horned appendage on their unit that does not allow the female cat to release easily. It also explains the loud horrendous cries you often hear.

Just googled “cat penis” (the things I do for Fluther!) and found this video. Anyone other ladies thankful they’re not a cat?

You should go to a vet. Many online sources say that it could indicate infection, and that cats don’t bleed during heat.

Going to a vet is the only thing I could tell you.

I used to have an intact female cat, and every so often while she was in heat, she bled. Not a lot, but it was definitely there. Are we talking about a lot of blood, here, or a little? If it’s a lot, take her to the vet. If it’s a little, it’s normal. But you should still take her to the vet and get her spayed. The poor thing will be miserable if she can’t get a little barbed penis. And, ouch.
