What's your take on racing strangers without them knowing it?

Asked by ucme (50047points) November 29th, 2010

I do it, probably more than is wise but hey, who knew! Okay here’s what i’m getting at, there are a variety of ways to indulge in a “stealth race” with persons you happen to see while you’re out & about. You could if you’ve a mind to, quicken your pace while walking in order to beat a fellow pedestrian on the other side of the road. Oh yeah, you can even manufacture a finish line, a road sign or a street light making ideal winning posts. When you’re shopping it can be a lot of fun to race your kart/trolley with an unsuspecting shopper. Yes it may be a hollow victory seeing though they’re unaware of your madness…...tomfoolery. Can still be rewarding in it’s own little way though. So, stealth racing with strangers. You game?

Haha, I did this a lot when I was a little boy. But, I still do “stealth racing” at red lights. They may or may not know, but I almost always try to beat the guy next to me.

I do that often.Especially at the grocery store.Sometimes I tell them to boost the challenge a bit. When I get to the finish line,I do a victory dance to rub it in their face. Losers! XD

@lucillelucillelucille Yay, certainly brightens up an otherwise dreary shopping trip. I have several “shopping games” I play…..all of which keep me entertained. Even if it’s at others expense XD

I don’t think that really counts as racing…

LOL!!! That’s a great idea!!! It would be cool if everyone caught on, and were attuned to some stranger “racing” them and played along!

Yeah, I’m on to those games (never knew what to call them. Thanks for the name;-)). I play in the grocery store, especially at check out. I also have a few I play while driving on long trips.

@ucme-I like to race people on the bike path too.I ride up along side them and make a comment about how pokey they are and the next thing you know, they are trying to wipe the floor with me.—That is when I pull out my Ben Hur moves-Whaa haa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! XD

I sometimes do this while in my car. My car is still fairly new and zippy so she can accelerate pretty fast. If I’m next to someone in one of those ridiculous American muscle cars at a light, as soon as it turns green, I zoom off and leave them in my dust. Naturally, they follow me and pass me, but it takes them a few seconds to do so. Sometimes, if it’s a teenage boy, he’ll glare at me “triumphantly” as he passes me, but all he sees is me laughing like crazy. :)

I must admit to slo-mo races on the motorway! I also definitely have to beat bigger, posher cars off from the lights.
