[fiction question] How do some people try to commit suicide?

Asked by awacting (801points) January 1st, 2011

I AM NOT SUICIDAL!!! I just wanted to say that right off the bat. I am writing a play and there is one of those groups like alcoholics anonymous. I need some more ways for these girls to have tried to kill themselves. Any ideas? And again, I am not going to kill myself!!!!Please do not give step-by-step instructions for committing suicide. I’m only looking for general methods. “Overdose” would be fine, but not “Overdose by taking 1000mg of X drug”.

There are tons of methods here.

Lover’s leap or other jumping off from a high place, Drowning, cutting, aphyxiation, gun to dome, gun to heart, crashing into building, other vehicle, etc., stepping out into oncoming vehicle’s path, electrocution, snapping own neck, wood chipper, consuming sand, consuming little bits of metal, etc.

Pills are very popular, and pretty good if you’re not brave. Also you might be rescued in time. They’re not quite as final as some other options.

Smearing oneself in ground beef and jumping headfirst into the crocodile exhibit at the zoo would be a bitchin’ idea.

Ingesting poison, Suicide by cop and hanging haven’t been mentioned yet,

@lynfromnm aphyxiation and snapping one’s own neck kinda covered that.
