Wanna talk about your cats?

Asked by Ladymia69 (6881points) February 3rd, 2011

Come on, you know you do.

I love my kitties. I have five rescues ( a mother, her three kittens, and their uncle) named Sweetness, Trouble, Fuddy-Duddy, Amino, and Mikey. My best cat who I had for 13 years died last February, my Nefertiti. So tell us about yours!

Geez. I guess no one wants to talk about their cats, then.

I love mine and hope they live forever.
Actually, I’m going to shower and get into bed with them right now. Mister puppy (my boy cat, he’s kinda like a dog) is snoring… I can hear him from here. :)

Sy (he’s a a Siamese, get it?) is the best boy cat in the world. He has a white goatee (like mine), four white feet, and tall brown ears he likes to have rubbed between thumb and index finger. He also likes to have his nose rubbed and his whiskers gently pulled. He has blue eyes that can look into your eyes as if he’s reading your thoughts. When he’s hungry, he vocalizes something that sounds like Hello, only it comes out He-woeeeeeeee. Oh—and he loves Harple.

I have two Maine Coon kitties,a male and a female that are the sweetest things.
They try to sleep on my head at night and it is very disruptive but I love them anyway.:)

Coloma's avatar

Mia & Marley are my two.
I adopted them last April and Sept. My beloved Gadwicke died in May.

Mia is a petite Torti point Siamese and Marley is a big, sturdy, caramel tabby with white nose, chest and paws. They are quite the pair, affectionate, wildly playful and loads of fun.

Infact, I just bought nail clippers today and am about to give it a whirl, oh boy, the 1st claw clipping, we will see. lol

we have 3 legacy cats still, and one feral that comes inside to play with them for a while then wants outside.

@Austinlad

You know how I love Sy! Big adventure for him on the horizon, international travelin’ cat. :-)

I want to see pictures, @ladymia69, @SamIAm, @Coloma, @woodcutter, and @Austinlad !

Here’s Blizzard, my bedbug, and Hershey, and my baby bunny Callie.

SamIAm's avatar

@troubleinharlem: Sasha is my avatar and I used to have a picture of the boy… but I don’t anymore. I’ll switch the avatar soon!

Ladymia69's avatar

@troubleinharlem YES! Pictures, everyone! Mine will be here shortly!

Ladymia69's avatar

@troubleinharlem Oh my lord! Blizzard’s eyes are so smart and inquisitive! Hershey is so lovely touchable. And Callie is beautiful, my Nefertiti was also a tortoiseshell/calico, and she had a temper! Does your Callie?

Coloma's avatar

This is Mia in my avatar. Don’t have time to out up pics right now, gotta run. ;-)

Ladymia69's avatar

OK, here is my highly photogenic late Nefertiti here, here, and here. Here is a shot of Mikey (the uncle) and Fuddy-Duddy. And this is a shot of the whole family. They often sleep together and they get along famously.

I have 5 cats.

The oldest (10) is Flower. She is a gigantic, long-haired Calico who is so sweet, but can also be a bit persnickety. I call her my supermodel.

The next oldest (8) is my only boy and his name is Mushroom. He is my baby, but he is also a monster. I will never get another boy cat.

The next two are sisters (6) and we still refers to them as the “kittens”. Blackberry is a tabby with a white chest and paws. She’s a little fatty who I call my Buddha cat. Her sister, Jelly, is a fuzzy white and gray long-haired sweetie. She is soo soft., softer than my bunny.

Calico (3 or 4) is a feral cat who I took in when I found her and her kittens. Her name is Cali and she is a short-haired calico cat. She is still skittish, but she is coming along nicely.

I love cats. I used to have a houseful of the, because I couldn’t say no, when people asked me if I could take their cat. I was a very successful cat rescuer.

There is now only one cat living in my house, and he belongs to my adult grandson.

I used to have two burmese cats one brown and one chocolate. They died a few years ago one after the other. I missed them lots. Now I have a red burmese and he is such a character. I bought a chair to go in my study and he has stolen it. It is his current must be spot. Except today when I worked from home so he had to sit on my and on my laptop and generally be in the way. Not that I really minded.

@ladymia69 I love sharing a name with your beloved pet. :)

I have Boo (The Bogeyman) who I got while trick-or-treating many years ago. I wasn’t actually trick-or-treating, I was taking my sisters. Anyhow, this guy had the kitten in a cage on his porch and told me he was going to drown it.. so I had to take him home, of course. He is white with grey patches and he is the alpha kitty of the house.

I have Mr. Schmee, whose name is actually Igor, but he’s like my sidekick.. so Mr. Schmee stuck. He is enormous and has a beautiful face, and he is all black except for a little white patch on his chest and one on his belly. People are always telling me that he looks like a miniature panther, and it’s true. He’s a beautiful cat. Total character, too. He’s the silly one of the bunch. He sits at a chair with us at the dinner table. I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t believe that he’s a cat.

I have Max, short for Maximus Yoda, and he is all grey. A bit of faint tabby striping, but pretty much all grey. He has big green eyes, he is bashful and a scaredy cat. He is also obsessed with eating human hair… which is a pain to control. He’s also very talkative, which I think is adorable.

My baby Ruby just died on New Year’s Day at the ripe age of 19. We got her when I was three, so I have no memories of life without her. Super sad. :(

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@sliceswiththings that is sad. :( <hugs>

sliceswiththings's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf Thanks! Hugs are great, especially when they’re furry and smell like tuna :)

troubleinharlem's avatar

@SamIAm : Awww, she’s so fluffy and cute!

@Coloma: How adorable, she almost looks cloudy with her fur pattern.

@ladymia69 : I know! Blizzard’s eyes are huge, and I swear that she has facial expressions sometimes. I’ll catch her giving me looks all the time. And Callie is more of the sweetheart, but she’s about seven years younger than the other two, so she likes playing with them even though they’re old and sometimes cranky. I love how your cats all curl up together and sleep, that’s adorable! My cats would never do that.

@Mz_Lizzy, @ANef_is_Enuf, @psychocandy and @YARNLADY : Pictures? :D

Oh, and @ANef_is_Enuf: He eats human hair? How’d that start? That’s bizarre. And that’s so sad about Boo! D: I hate bad owners.

SamIAm's avatar

@troubleinharlem, @ANef_is_Enuf: My boy used to eat my hair! He would sit on top of my pillow (behind my head) and lick my bangs when he was a kitty. It was so odd but he eventually stopped. Now he just screams at me to feed him 24/7. Fucking big cats ;)

Coloma's avatar

So many adorable kitties!

Mine just wrestled on my head to force me out of bed for their breakfast.
Spoiled little things they are. Now they are out playing before the morning nap.

Here’s Marley in my avatar. He is devil cat, always bulging eyes just waiting to attack. lol

sliceswiththings's avatar

My old cat used to chew on my head!! She’d come up behind me on the couch and just start chewing. It felt sooo good, little kitty fangs make for a good scalp massage. I guess I must have changed shampoos and she stopped. Bad choice.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@troubleinharlem it started like most cats do – he would just sit behind me and chew on my hair, and knead my scalp. Not a big deal. But it evolved to the point where he would find a hair on the floor and eat it, or pull it out of my head and swallow it. Apparently it is relatively common and a form of OCD in cats. So now I just watch him. I also keep my hair tied up in a bun when I’m asleep.

SamIAm's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf: argh, the things we do for our cats! we’re all insane :)

sliceswiththings's avatar

Ooh and my mom once gave me goat’s milk soap when I was in high school. My cat was hanging out in the bathroom while i was showering, and when I got out and was drying off I look down and see her licking my leg. Mmmm goat’s milk.

Bellatrix's avatar

SamIam – Jasper still does that! At night and especially in winter – he insists on sleeping on MY pillow and very often feels the need to wash my hair. It is gross! I have to move him then.

And

TroubleinHarlem – I will try to upload one of him. :-)

Here are Misty, Kiara, and Bo.

My wife has about 4 cats of her own, and she’s trying to find homes for the kitties in the pictures.

Coloma's avatar

Marley dove into a full bath tub the other morning, oops….didn’t know his secret hideout was flooded. haha

My cat is fat and has no teeth or claws and likes being tossed in the air. He enjoys pureed food and playing with string, nothing else. He is 14 pounds of pure beauty. He is the biggest snuggler in the world. He likes riding in cars. His name is Barry/Barney. He is phenomenal. He likes to eat dust and my hair. He makes a lot of noise. Also he enjoys pooping in the bottom drawer of my dresser, and sleeping on my head.

Coloma's avatar

@deni

Haha, very funny, except for the pooping in your dresser drawer, baaad kitty, bad!

Bellatrix's avatar

Oh my Deni. What a character! He sounds gorgeous… although I don’t fancy the pooping in the dresser…

Ladymia69's avatar

@deni Wow! That was a good jump, cat!

Bellatrix's avatar

I love fat cats. I know it might not necessarily be in their best interests, but who could resist cuddling up to such a cuddly cat. Weird that he likes being thrown in the air. How did you find out he loves that?

deni's avatar

I was playing with him on the bed and tossing him a few feet and he would get really loud and purr and make all his usual sounds and want more….I can’t really explain it, he just looked like he was enjoying himself LOL.

Coloma's avatar

My guys just made a dash out the back door for an evening romp. Little shits, the frogs in my neighbors pond are so LOUD right now that they won’t even hear me calling them. haha

Hope no roving Coyotes are lurking….always something over here. :-/

Bellatrix's avatar

That’s so odd (but funny) Deni.. I think if I tried it with mine he would come down all claws out and I would need to make a run for it.

deni's avatar

@Mz_Lizzy HAHAHAHA yeah he is insanely laid back, it’s tons of fun. A good adjective to describe him is “malleable” lol.

Bellatrix's avatar

He sounds DELIGHTFUL. I bought a secondhand leather chair for when I turn one of the bedrooms into my own study. (I can’t wait!). It is a lovely chair with an ottoman too. I sat on it for about a day and then it was stolen, by Jasper. He wouldn’t move off it! Sprawled out across it like lord of the manor. I think cats most definitely believe they are the higher beings and we are merely their non-furry strokers and feeders. We really should know our place.

deni's avatar

@Mz_Lizzy hahahahahha I agree. That’s hilarious….cats are so funny.

Coloma's avatar

Alls well over here after last nights bedtime ditch.
Infact, a miracle…forgot to lock the cat door after they came back in and they stayed in all night, AND…the raccoons must have missed the open door and the cat food was still in the bowl this morning! Woo Hoo!

I have zero cats. Best number ever.
