Is there accent detection software?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) February 11th, 2011

Since language based phone bots, and natural language word processing software must start with a general grasp of the pronunciation of words across a large spectrum of the population, it made me wonder if there was some element of accent detection going on.

Someone just told me I have a bit of an english accent! How absurd.

Naturally, I suspected that all I would have to do is google “accent detector” and a nice bit of software would appear ready to diagnose my accent.

Not so.

Ever heard of anything like this?

Couldn’t find software, but there are humans that will do it for free (apparently)

I know this is entirely different from what you are thinking, but these quizzes are software accent detectors.
