Does anyone have tips for climbings poles or towers?

Just out of curiosity, they gave you the job when you had no prior knowledge of pole-climbing?
My only tip is to write a will.

Surely the company would have some sort of safety training, ya think!!!

If not, I wouldn’t risk it without specialized instructions.

i have had safety training and have all the proper gear. the gear is not cheap stuff, its high end gear, i just want some tips and tricks to help me with techniques and what not. I saw that stairway to heaven video, the guy is an idiot. He is the reason our job is considered one of the most dangerous jobs in america.
