Looking to find leads to buy used cell phone in bulk. Any ideas?

Asked by lbus1229 (338points) September 28th, 2011

I am looking at opening a store that specializes in selling used and reconditioned phones. Was hoping I could get some leads, from the members here, on where to purchase used phones in bulk or surplus lots.

Try this… Go on Ebay and when you put in used cell phones, type in words like LOT, BUNDLE or CRATE, into the bar. Ebay sells lots in bulk too but they usually show up sporatically or last in queue if you don’t specify.

Only other thing I know of is they usually have bins of them in Thrift stores. Ask the manager for a discount to buy in bulk and they usually give you things for a fraction of the cost if you ask.

I know you have already given this a lot of thought but, can you explain the business model to me? Why would someone buy an old phone when they can get a new one with a charger, instructions, and new battery for free. Have you give thought to how much time you will need to clear each phone, and match up the correct batteries and chargers?
I am not asking these questions to steal your idea. I am asking because I want you to be successful. You can PM me if you like.
There are tons of phones at Goodwill – They are usually there for a reason.
