Worsening memory loss?

Asked by minniemau5 (432points) March 22nd, 2011

I asked a question a few days ago about memory loss possibly being a side effect from the prozac that I’m on, but apparently memory loss is very rarely seen with that medication. It seems to be getting worse. There are full days that I can’t remember for the life of me. I have trouble concentrating, I confuse dreams with reality and I can hardly keep my eyes open. I’m afraid there’s something wrong with my brain. I’m only 18 so amnesia seems a little scary to me. Any ideas on what’s causing this?

You need to see a doctor. You’re right – this shouldn’t be happening, especially at age 18. It might have something to do with the meds, it might not. Make an appointment.

It sounds like you may need a neurological work-up. Start with your GP; he or she can refer you if necessary. Nobody should speculate on this over the internet.

These symptoms are definitely abnormal for your age.

See a Doctor ASAP.

Sooner rather than later.

You’re not also taking Lorazepam (Ativan), are you? That sounds a lot like what was happening with my wife when she was given Ativan.

@mrentropy I have taken Lorazepam before, maybe once or twice, but not recently.

@minniemau5
is it sort-of like a memory thing where you can’t remember things from the past like what you had for dinner last night or is it more of a short-term thing?
