The ‘48 is with Vivian Leigh, and the ‘35 is with Greta Garbo.

I haven’t seen either @Written. According to Amazon customers, the ‘48 version has higher user ratings

Personally, I always prefer the BBC mini-series versions to the movies of books, and Anna Karenina is no exception. It’s very true to form.

No version will be a substitute for reading the book, no matter how faithful. On its theatrical merits I would certainly go with Garbo.
