Oh, yes. So much. It is very cleansing.

Definitely. Whether you’re crying about what makes you sad, or just watching a sad movie, it can definitely be cathartic.

Sure, feels great sometimes. Except from having to blow my nose after haha. But yeah I agree, sometimes it just feels pretty relieving. I don’t know if I need it but I’m certainly not gonna avoid it when I feel it coming on.

Just watched “Get Low” with a lot of personal stuff going on. I lost it.

Absolutely. It’s almost as good as a good laugh.

Very much so. Whenever I am stressed out, I love to sit in my bed and cry for a few minutes! It really helps clear out my mind.

Seaofclouds's avatar

Definitely! It seems to make all things feel so much lighter afterwards.

@Symbeline That’s right, crying would be the perfect release if we didn’t have sinuses…

Yes, I try to work a good cry into my routine on a semi-regular basis. It is just necessary sometimes. Definitely helps to lift a little bit of the weight from my shoulders.

when you cry, you’re almost literally washing your grief out of yourself..

I thoroughly agree.

That’s why Mr. Krabs, Spongebob, and Patrick are so happy, and why the crying-depived Squidward is always on the verge of a mental meltdown.

Yes, I love a good cry. It’s refreshing.

Crying opens the lungs, washes the contenance, exercises the eyes, and softens down the temper; so cry away. – Charles Dickens

Have a good cry, wash out your heart.

Yes. I have a collection of movies used specifically for this purpose if I can’t make it happen on my own.

Crying for me can be a relief of overwhelming stress, lack of sleep, exhaustion, grief, and more. Sometimes I find, I just need a good cry.

I balance this with my need to giggle/laugh and all is good!

A “good cry” may work well for most folks. However a good hard all out 10 mile run works best for me. It cleans the sole of bad feelings and negativity and is quite invigorating. It is a much better cardiovascular work out than a “good cry”, plus it spares the people around me the pain of dealing with a blubbering old baby.

Yes…makes you feel lighter somehow.
Also exercises your lungs. ; )

aprilsimnel's avatar

Yes, it is. It’s rare that I have one, though.

weeveeship's avatar

Yes, it’s good stress release.

Vincent_Lloyd's avatar

YES! IT IS!!! I wish I could just cry since I have so many sorrows in my life…I even try to make myself cry by thinking of all the sad thoughts and things I don’t want to happen…But all I get from myself is just a tear…and an unhealthy, unsteady, heartbeat that’s weary of it’s tempo…But Yes it’s very good!

cookieman's avatar

Absolutely. Sad movie, emotional tv show, melancholly music…works every time.

‘course, I’m a big sap.

Hibernate's avatar

Sometimes… erm dunno about that. Depends mostly on what sort of person you are.

DominicX's avatar

Maybe. :\

It’s been so long since I’ve cried like that that I don’t really know. I get teary-eyed watching sad/heartwarming movies or listening to epic music, but I haven’t full-on cried in a long time.
