Will my iPhone become damaged if I plug it into a direct iPod plug to my radio in my car?

Asked by jenlk1207 (440points) April 20th, 2008 from iPhone

I have a iPod direct plugin to my radio, I tried plugging in my iPhone and it popped up a message saying this plug isn’t compatable with the iPhone and that the iPhone won’t ring if its plugged in. If I did it anyway to play music, could it damage my phone?

No, you just can’t receive phone calls, etc.

I do this to charge my phone sometimes and I haven’t had any problems, like peedub said I just don’t recieve any incoming calls or messages

I do it daily; and receive calls. It won’t damage your phone, but it could damage your speakers with GSM noise.

I haven’t experienced a problem. If you turn off the radio by saying Yes, you can’t receive calls since you are in Airplane mode. If you select no, you still can. Though you will probably experience some GSM noise in your speakers.
