Adding ram to a Dell Laptop?

Asked by mybelle4 (1points) April 21st, 2008

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501, it was given to me as a gift and I’d like to know how to add ram to my machine so it isn’t so slow. Any recommendations on how to do so, can you ad ram externally to a laptop the same way you can ad memory to a pc? Thanks!

First you would have to get the right memory. Newegg has a list of memory for the 1501
Installing the memory is actually pretty easy on the dell. You turn off the computer, remove the battery. Use a screwdriver to open the memory cover on the back (its the one with the windows sticker) and then you just add the memory. This CNET video does a pretty a good job in providing you with a step-by-step instruction on how to install the memory. I have personally added more memory to my dell inspiron 6000. Its pretty easy. Just like installing memory to a pc, except you have to insert the ram at an angle first and then you push it flat
