Why won't my iPhone vibrate?

Asked by peinrikudo6 (196points) May 31st, 2011

Yesterday, my iPhone randomly stopped vibrating when it’s on silent. It’s done it once before, but I’m not sure why because even then it just started vibrating again after a few minutes. I have not dropped it and it has not taken any kind of damage in the recent months.

I checked all the settings to make sure the vibrate option wasn’t off and whatnot. Has anyone had this problem?

When you put your phone on ‘silent’, doesn’t that mean it won’t ring or vibrate?

Well, there’s a setting so when it’s on silent, it can vibrate. I’m not sure if that makes sense. Haha. The little switch on the side, when it’s flipped, the phone vibrates once to affirm that it’s silent/vibrate.

I should have been clearer on that. I apologize.

Press the power button and the home button down at the same time. This will force a reset. Should work.

I share your pain. My vibrator won’t place my calls.

@Dog I’ve tried it several times but to no avail. :/

I can live without it, but it’s really inconvenient and I hate missing calls because the people I know NEVER leave voicemails even if it’s an emergency. Haha.

1–800-MY IPHONE

It’s free and they usually have someone who knows whats going on. You may need to insist that they bump you up to a “product specialist”

It’s not like other comp. companies lines which are usually outsourced to a foreign country and then keep you on hold forever. They all speak English and my hold times have all been under 5 mins. Give it a try.
