Where would be a good place to find a mannequin for cheap?

Asked by shpadoinkle_sue (7188points) August 28th, 2011

I’m working towards opening up a page on Etsy to sell some handmade bags and I’m a little stuck on one part. I’m wanting to get a mannequin to show the bags. Where would be a place that I could find one cheaply? I’ve looked on Ebay and on the internet elsewhere and those run about 100 dollars.

Craigslist or put out a request on Freecycle.org I bet you have one in no time!

Go talk to the stores that have mannequins. You might be amazed at what they have on hand that they no longer need.

Edit. I see you have tried Ebay, but I just looked and there are some that aren’t $100. We also have Greys and a range of other auction websites. What about antique stores? You might find something really interesting too!

I just did a quick search and found Link

@Bellatrix The kind I need is about that price. I need one that has a full body. Australia is a bit too far for me being on the US west coast. Good idea about the antique stores.

@Pied_Pfeffer I spoke to a few stores and Khol’s has to destroy theirs when they’re done and Target doesn’t have any. I have to call Fred Meyers back tomorrow.

@Cruiser I’ve signed up with the Amboy/Cougar group. Thanks for the link.

If you happen to be in the SF bay area, you should check out Mannequin Madness.
