What are the best twenty-something group games to play?

Asked by nigel (37points) November 9th, 2006
My friends and I love turning anything into a game. Mafia, Taboo, Cranium, Celebrity, etc. We're in the lookout for new games. Alcohol is optional. I'd prefer games that require minimal equipment -- paper/pens, dice, cards

You have a normal beirut game, 10 cups a side, two on two.

So the game works like this:
andrew's avatar
Celebrity!
gsiener's avatar
each team also has a team of flip cuppers
gsiener's avatar
or is that cup flippers?
nigel's avatar
I love it already....
gsiener's avatar
anyway, when you sink a cup
gsiener's avatar
each team races in flip cup
gsiener's avatar
if the team that sunk wins, the shot stands
gsiener's avatar
if the team that challenges wins, then the ball is removed and the cup stays
nigel's avatar
so do the 2-on-2 folks PLAY flipcup
nigel's avatar
or those are other team members?
nigel's avatar
we should turn it into a triple threat, where even if you win in flipcup, you then have to go on to sink a few quarters
gsiener's avatar
Collaboration, baby!
nigel's avatar
ok - what about non-drinking games

Taboo was made by the hand of God himself. There's also a simple drinking game I like to play: whip out a newspaper grocery ad and, as a group, try to guess what each item costs (kind of like The Price is Right). Obviously, each person takes turns holding the newspaper and

I definitely did not see the "Pressing enter will send your response." So the rest of that sentence would be... "asking the others for their guesses." I'd probably reserve this game for when you're absolutely bored or inebriated

Apples to Apples!

Great game for groups, only semi-competitive, and definitely convertible to a drinking game.
And easy to learn!

Bear, Salmon, Mosquito: Play it like paper rock scissors, except that its two large teams of people, and they all have to agree among themselves which sign they’re going to throw. The two teams get relatively close to each other in lines in the middle of the field and throw simultaneously. The side that wins tries to tag as many people from the losing side as possible before they make it back to their end of the field. Those tagged join the other team, and you start over in the huddle. Bear beats salmon, salmon beats mosquito, mosquito beats bear.

Apples to Apples is great, better with some Et-OH involved. Another good one if not a little old-school is cosmic wimpout, its a dice game that gets kind of intense. If youre looking for another drinking game, I played this one the other night with some friends and it was spectacular. Get some of your favorite shooter (we had Jack and Jaegermeister) and a copy of the movie “Blues Brothers”. Insert said movie into movie player of choice, and everytime something ridiculous happens or any time someone says they are on a mission from god take a shot of whatever. just make sure you have a ride home or a spot on a couch.
