That’s amazing….that there has already been minor success with this. The ripple effect that could occur…? Wow. Think of coma patients and their families, stroke patients, etc. Amazing world we live in. =)

The first thing that comes to mind is “Shit, I’m screwed”. The second thing that comes to mind is a fucked up distopia were we have to get our brains scanned before getting a job or getting on an aircraft, or joining a dating site. Maybe we will get lucky and even the cops will start using them on us to they can lock us up for out possible intentions.

EDIT: this will also totally screw over the movie industry.

Like you I think of the positive aspects.
My autistic son has difficulty expressing his feelings. I would do anything to know what he feels when he can not explain. Many autistic people have no language and there are stroke victims and others who can not speak.

Poison, as with everything, unfortunately, there is the flip-side….and likely no one can control the nasty stuff “they” will attempt. Progress is scary for this very reason!!

Philosopher, I completely understand what you’re thinking. A good friend of mine has two autistic sons, and although moderately “speech-abled”, there are so many times where she is left confused and frustrated simple because they cannot effectively portray their emotions. In a sense, she compares it to having a child from another country with a completely never-before heard language and trying to understand them. I know this is simplifying it, but sometimes equating A+B=C for people gives them the “Aha!” moment. =)

Your biological distinctiveness will be added to our own. We already have Chris Hansen.

Science has always improved the quality of life. Laws will have to be made to stop criminals from exploding all Technology. We already have too much theft on the Internet. The Hackers never stop. Our incompetent Politicians in the US have done next to nothing.
I am hoping America will wake up and help the world realize that Science is fact and the world should peruse documentation not fascism.
This Technology will help many people.
