I was told if you switch to another company (with the same number) they will take care of all that for you. Not sure if it’s true or not.

How long have you been with AT&T?

read through your contract. you might just be stuck with them.

Tell them you’re moving to Mexico (seriously). I have a friend that got out of a contract that way. You could also keep calling customer service a few times a day to complain about stuff (reception, etc…nitpick ‘em). If you do that enough they’ll release you because you’ll be costing them too much money.

Look up this topic on consumerist.com. There are a few ways to make it happen and not get an early termination fee.

There are many websites that connect people who are looking to trade providers. Its totally legit. The providor doesn’t care who is filling out the remainder of the contract as long as someone is paying it.

Of course the site takes a small fee, but fair is fair.

You can also look for a “material change” in the contract. Such as an increase in the prices of text messages. Thateans they breached the contract that you both agreeed on, therefor you can execute it without a termination fee.

I know that if you make a lot of calls from roam it ends up costing your carrier a lot and they’ll drop you. I think i read somewhere that you should call your fax line or something like that from a location where you’re on roam and let the call go all night. If you do that a few times they should be chomping at the bit to get rid of you.

isn’t there an early termination fee of 200.00 to get out of your contract..

I work for them, and you will never get out of an iphone contract. We subsidize a huge cost for these phones, and in turn you have a 2 year contract. Moving to Mexico won’t work, unless you have proof that you have moved there if you have an iPhone account.. and I doubt you have proof.. quit trying to be sneaky, and own up to your commitments like an adult.
