Do the mods (or perhaps just Auggie) have a way to remove posts, without so much as leaving a "reason"?

Asked by zensky (13418points) December 9th, 2011

I could’ve sworn I posted something – and now it’s gone. Usually it’ll say something like flame bait (lol) or off-topic.

Sometimes it just says “Response Moderated.” There is some thread somewhere where this is discussed at length… But I’m feeling too uber-lazy right now to look it up for ya.

zensky's avatar

Literally nothing. Not even response moderated. Perhaps I only dreamt I’d written it.

If nothing is there, you may have hit the button for the next activity instead of “answer”. I’ve done that and it’s always the most brilliant, most insightful posts that get lost. Bummer, dud.

Do you see your answer in your Most Recent Responses folder?

zensky's avatar

Maybe, @JilltheTooth – but perhaps they’ve devised a way to simply and cleanly remove posts? It would be far more esthetically pleasing that’s for sure.

@zensky maybe you need to lay off the trees, man.

I noticed that one of my responses got some lurve, then got moderated but with a visible flag. Even though I don’t see that answer in my Responses folder, I can still see it in my Lurve folder.

If it’s an older comment you’re thinking of it might be that you’re looking in the wrong question. We retread a lot of ground here after all.

To answer your question I don’t thing modded answers ever just vanish into thin air. There’s always some sort of trace of their presence. And apparently Fluther archives them so they aren’t exactly lost either. I know at least one person here (I can’t remember who) asked a mod to send them a copy of something they’d written that had been modded. Apparently it was a bit of writing they liked enough that they didn’t want to completely lose it.

There’s a secret invisible mod, known to no one, who prowls fluther like a ghost, pulling a “ghost” moderation on random posts. The posts disappear like ghosts, with nothing to indicate anything was ever there.

erichw1504's avatar

@wundayatta does this secret mod hide under the orange tree?

zensky's avatar

^ Yikes!

UNDER THE ORANGE TREE.

@JilltheTooth Did you really call @zensky a dud? Where’s the love, man?

zensky's avatar

<<< is such a dud.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@dappled_leaves LOL, I hate it when e’s fall off my posts.

Ummmm, not sure @zensky, maybe @JilltheTooth is onto something with her comment. I’ve done the same thing in past.

fundevogel's avatar

<<<just got modded. I’m thinking it was Auggie since she has a cute way of lurving the little violations before laying down the law.

If you get close enough to your computer screen the Mods can erase unsuitable questions and answers from your mind.

zensky's avatar

That’s more like it. Especially while flunking.

Ah, crap, holy bloody cow, I do a spelling boo boo and leave for an evening of cheer with some friends… @zensky , my own dearest love, you know I don’t think you are a dud. Now you’d better damned well prove it, fella.

I’m so abashed.

JilltheTooth's avatar

You know, I just realized that it you guys a long damned time to see and respond to my typo. I don’t feel so silly now. Of course it took me an hour to realize this.

dappled_leaves's avatar

@JilltheTooth Or maybe your e was modded. <cue dramatic music!>

zensky's avatar

Well, there is a way to prove my undudness…

JilltheTooth's avatar

Sorry, fella, you lost all credibility with that content farm animal thing on the other thread.

zensky's avatar

Harumph.
