Are you forgetful? Yahoo has nine reasons why this could be - and maybe even a good tip on what to do about it?

Yes I… what was the question again? Sorry, had to do it.

No, but seriously I am pretty… wait, what?

I have a great short term memory, but ask me anything about life before I was around 10yrs old & it’s just not going to happen.

My memory is actually pretty bad and I’m not even 30 yet. I often walk into a room and completely forget what I was going to do. I forget about 50% of what my wife reminds me to do.

That reminds me…

I have difficulty bringing up the word I need. I feel like there is some kind of sludge slowing up the memory tubes in my brain. Sometimes they are clogged entirely. This has all happened since I got sick. Sometimes I use a thesaurus to find the word, sometimes I go with what I got. It’s fluther. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Or for that matter, it doesn’t even have to be understandable.

I forget things from time to time, and more and more often now, too. I have mostly accepted it as one of the signs of aging (I recently moved in with my 87-year-old uncle – temporarily, while his daughter and son-in-law are out of town – and I have indications of how it will be if I’m lucky enough to live for another 30 years.)

So I attempt to compensate by being more regular in my habits: I only put my keys down “here”, for example, and when I get dressed (or undressed) I load (unload) my pockets in “this way” and put things “here”, etc. And I have a dozen or more pairs of eyeglasses sprinkled around my daily route.

I spend about half my day seeking something that I had previously put in a special place so that I could find it again. The rest of the day is spent trying to remember why I wanted it.

This is so timely @zensky. Yesterday, a colleague’s name (not someone I work with regularly) was on the tip of my tongue but I couldn’t quite remember what it was. Then I couldn’t remember Bette Midler’s name. I was seriously starting to think… what the heck. Some good tips in that list.

I just call everyone Rumpelstiltskin.
