When was your last "Duh-her!" moment?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46813points) December 31st, 2011

A bit ago my daughter called just as we pulled into our driveway. I got out of the truck and started walking to the house. My daughter was telling me what her plans were for tonight, and my husband was unloading stuff out of the truck. I hollered back at him, “Hey…did I leave my phone in the car?......Oh wait. I’m on it.” I thought my daughter was going to hurt herself laughing!

On my wedding day. We had our vows on his iPad Touch. Well, we also had our wedding march song loaded on it, a friend in charge of the iPod dock to start and stop it for the walk and again after the vows. The vows had to be quickly copied to a paper notepad we handed back and forth to each other and Mr.‘s handwriting was tough to read.

I was in a meeting about how a particular computer program worked and asked if it worked well on Apple computers. The man was using an Apple computer. Duh-her!

Putting wax paper in the oven and wondering why my kitchen filled with smoke. It took a long investigation to figure it out. Duurrr!

When I got up at 8 this morning and went to the Fluther New Years chat room to greet the Australian side of the world and found it was already over. I realized I really didn’t understand the time zone system.

When I was flashing CyanogenMod7 onto my Nook Color. It didn’t take the first time, so I tried for two hours to restore it to stock condition and try again. I found many mutually-exclusive instructions to do so, many involving things that even I consider black magic.

Then I realized that I didn’t need to go back; I had a blank tablet, the tools to re-write the ROM, and the ROM image I needed. After that, it took me less than three minutes to complete!

For the non-techie types out there, it is the equivalent of having an empty bowl, a box of cereal, and a carton of milk, yet still taking 3 hours trying to figure out how to make breakfast.
