Is there a way to capture a video clip from a DVD onto a Mac?

Asked by Glad2bhear (209points) July 7th, 2012

I’m running Lion on a MacBook Pro & I want to take a video clip from a home movie that is on a DVD. In earlier versions of OSX there was a program called “DVD Capture” but I don’t think it would run on Lion & I haven’t been able to locate it anyway.
Any ideas?

I would just use Handbrake to rip the DVD to mp4. From there you can just use Quicktime Player or iMovie to trim the mp4 file to the part you want.

I second @johnpowell‘s suggestion. Handbrake is a very handy tool.

Can handbrake take a video clip from the DVD? I didn’t notice that. I usually use dvd ripper for mac to rip a DVD.
