Should LiveStrong charity continue?

Asked by chelle21689 (7907points) October 23rd, 2012

Not sure if I got my facts wrong but I heard that they were going to take that down because of the doping allegations against Lance Armstrong. I feel like if his charity has made a huge difference in helping those that are sick, it should stay. =\ Just my opinion.

I’m in Austin where LiveStrong and Lance are. The last I heard, the board of directors have vowed to continue the organization, though certainly Lance is out of the picture. I personally hope they can rebrand to continue the great work without the taint of Lance’s sins.

Lance resigned earlier. He has no role with the foundation anymore, other than as founder.

If the work the charity does is good, there’s no reason not to continue, although I wonder how well it will do with fundraising now. It’s founder has no income and has lost much of his opportunities. It’s going to be touch and go to see if the foundation can survive without Lance.

Armstrong denies ever using drugs yeah right but he admits pedalling.

wundayatta's avatar

However, he did not fight his expulsion.

Does he deny using drugs, or only say no one has ever proven he used drugs?

It was a gag.

Oh. Because you were making a joke, you were making up facts, too?

I got the joke (not that it made me laugh), but the fact seemed reasonably close to being truth.

Keep trying. I think I laugh at about one out of fifteen of your gag lines. That’s not bad compared to how rarely I laugh at so-called comedians.

Lance Armstrong has stepped down from the charity. His sponsors, who have dropped him, have both said they will continue to support the charity. I don’t think there are any plans for it to end.

@ucme I thought it was funny….

I would love to see another celebrity step in to make up for the loss, and perhaps a name change would be in order, but they are a very successful charity.

This is a great cause and good charity. Hope it keeps going.
