What encourages you and gives you hope in the miserable world?

Asked by Gifted_With_Languages (1143points) February 5th, 2013

As far as I’m concerned, nature is my motivation, and the love my family gives me as well. Even on my darkest of days, their smiles lights up my world enough to get me through to the next day. I still have days where I see the worthlessness of life and I question my existence on this earth—it’s a never-ending battle—but if they are by my side, it makes it easier to handle.

How about you ?

Once again my warmest thanks to you.

Our capacity for love. Can’t let that ember die. Whatever hope we have depends on it.

A really really cold frigid day, like -25 F. If I can cope with that I can cope with anything.

Falling asleep to the sound of birds chirping. Cookies. Watching my dog wag her tail in her sleep. All the songs I love. My friends. Planning a vacation. Snow. New books. Warm woolen mittens…
I don’t think of the world as miserable, but when I’m down, I plan what would be my perfect day. I get slightly giddy thinking about it, which is pretty convenient.

My family, friends, coworkers, and patients at work. I think it also helps that I don’t consider our world to be miserable. I try to stay focused on the positive things around me.

That the world on average gets less miserable every year when you really look at the hard data. The problems we are facing can be solved if we really want them solved. This includes containing climate change and saving brittle ecosystems.
