What is the plural for Mongoose?

Asked by AstroChuck (37609points) June 15th, 2008

I know. Kind of a dumb question, right? But if the plural for goose is geese, it follows that the plural for mongoose must be mongeese. Except, I don’t think that’s right. Anyone know? Just a throw away question.

Mongooses is proper, but Mongeese is actually generally accepted. (in some circles at least).

I personally believe that it should work in a numerical fashion e.g. Hemigoose, Mongoose, Digoose, Trigoose, Tetragoose, Pentagoose, Hexagoose, Heptagoose, Octogoose… all the way up to Kilagoose (1,000 Mongooses)

I like to refer to them as mongi (just for the heck of it).

I don’t like Mongooses, it looks weird to me. I go with Mongeese.
