FaceBook Gurus: Where do I find the link to an artist, entertainer, musician, popular figure page?

Asked by pleiades (6617points) September 8th, 2013

Ok so you know how most people sign up with a personal FaceBook account and they make a photography page, artist page, musician page, business page etc? How do you find that link?

Do I really just have to log into that page from my personal account and then proceed to simply copy the link from above? Is there no professional looking link?

I have a link that looks like this

https://www.facebook.com/pages/ArtistName-Here/4293480139483948039?ref=hl

If I am searching for a particular person or company’s FB page, I often go to their regular website and see if they have a link to their FB page there. I find the Search feature within FB is lacking because so many people make fan pages and create groups around their interests that a search yields too many results.

I’m not completely sure that I am understanding your question, though; also, your link is not working properly – it says “Profile Unavailable”.

@hearkat That’s an example of the link format. It’s that.

instead of something like this www.facebook.com/artistnamehere

it’s got all that mumbo jumbo at the end…

Gotcha… and yes, I’ve noticed long strings of numbers and crap when I’ve tried to share FB URLs also. I suspect it’s tied to your user info and how you navigated to that page – all part of their tracking system. It is worse with groups and pages than with regular user profiles, it seems. Have you tried to open a new browser window and just type in the Facebook.com/username to see if it works? It probably should, but again the tricky part is knowing that it is the ‘official’ page.

www.facebook.com/hearkat just testing… and it brings me to my profile.

@hearkat Is that your default FB page though?

What I’m saying is I have a default/personal FB page and then I have the one where I have a page of my artwork.

When you created your page for your artwork, didn’t you get to choose the page name? That’s what you put after the Facebook.com/ … as in your artistnamehere example. It should work.

For example, if I navigate to my friend Sean’s artist page (rather than his personal profile) from within FB I get all the gobbledygook letters after his page name in the URL, but if I type in www.Facebook.com/seanweslettering and none of the other crap in a different browser, it takes me right to his page.

If you want to post your actual URL here for me to test, or your page name for me to find, I’ll do it for you.
