Does complex thought ever feel like you are wasting vaulable brain sugars?

Asked by talljasperman (21916points) August 9th, 2014

When I am doing some higher math/physics, I.Q. tests or, playing chess, I feel like I am straining my brain of power, fuel etc. What about you? How do you feel when doing a complex task that you don’t enjoy?

LOL! No! I like it.
Wait, I read the rest of the details…if I’m doing a complex task that I don’t enjoy I get cranky.

I feel like it strengthens it instead of weakening it. It’s bench pressing for my brain.

@dxs Sometimes when I write an exam I feel like passing out.

As @Dutchess_III points out, the operative concept of your inquiry is “task that you don’t enjoy.”

I enjoy exercising my brain with various challenges, I feel validated by figuring things out. Writing is a part of what I do for a living, and I feel a strong sense of accomplishment by completing a document in which I feel proud over how it reads.

Do things you enjoy and that you feel skilled in. You’ll realize some day that you are succeeding at complex thought without feeling drained.

I find chess stimulating. Math can go to hell though.

@Darth_Algar I hate math and chess.
