What movie deserved a sequel?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) July 31st, 2008

Inspired by this question, I wonder; what movie did you love that should have had a sequel and didn’t? For me it was Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins. It was a great, underrated, under-watched movie.

I Am Legend….sort of left off abruptly
Does the community survive? Is the cure ever made? What happened to all the fleash-eating zombies? We may never know.

I think all the greatest films are better without a follow up to ruin it. I mean, there have been a handful of great sequels (Godfather 2 and Kill Bill 2), but mostly really bad ones (Ocean’s Twelve, anything Disney did two of).I mean, tons of movies COULD make awesome sequels, but chances are they would blow. Plus, for some reason I like movies where the main character (or one of them) dies, so a sequel would be missing that special kick.

If I Am Legend were to get a sequel, I think Richard Matheson would die just so he could spin in his grave.

Read the book and I Am Legend doesn’t need a sequel.

I think Felix the Cat The Movie deserves a sequel. or Perhaps Little Nemo. (Not Finding Nemo)

Cast Away – that darned cross road ending!

I’d like to see a sequel to Constantine and Firefly; in fact, I think they both deserve to have multiple sequels.

God yes, firefly deserves a second go. Though I’m not sure how it would be without its characters…well dead. Two of them at least.

Serenity for sure. If you dont know its the movie based on the show firefly. Totally awesome.

I never watched Firefly but whenever that movie Serenity is on cable, I watch it. It was a great movie! I would watch the show Firefly just to see the story play out. I would like to see a sequel to that one. Good choice!

Oops. Yeah Serenity.

Dark City and Blade Runner.

The Matrix ended too abruptly; They could have made maybe two more movies and made the story a whole load better. The 3rd movie did the could-have-been series no justice.

Serenity.

@AstroChuck I loved both of those movies, but I’m not sure that they lend themselves well to a sequel.

Boondock Saints does need a sequel. For a while I was hoping Good Will Hunting would get a sequel, but I’m not so sure anymore.

For me, it would be “No Country for Old Men”. At first I didn’t think I wanted a sequel. I liked the ending and was satisfied. But, as I think about it, I really want the story to continue.

It’s not a movie yet, but The Time Traveler’s Wife was a great book being made into a movie. I hope the author writes a worthy sequel.

Constantine :)

@charybdys – There is such a risk to make that a good movie. What a great book though. The Time Traveler’s Wife! I loved it and have bought numerous copies as gifts.

i’m honestly weirded out by the fact that when i read this question Constantine was what came to mind and like 4 other people asnwered with that movie. i dont even know why i thought of that movie! i havent seen it since it first came out.

@aneedleinthehayy
Constantine is a great film, the plot is awesome, I love the film, I have the book, which is great, and “passive” by a perfect circle is a great song for the movie, fits perfectly. besides, the illusion of what happens when you commit suicide but come back is exactly the way a friend described to us (he was dead for a couple of minutes after his attempt but doctors brought him back) years before the film was released (creepy)
