How is it possible, in "Ready Player One", for Wade to love an avatar?

Obviously Art3mis. For the record, in real life, her name is Samantha, has a birthmark on her face, and is part of a rebellion.

There is a whole thing called “Otaku Culture”.
Also, “Art3mis” is such a pretend wannabe 1337 speak spelling, that can only come from some old dude who doesn’t know anything.
It should be spelled “4r73m15”.
