What is the oldest that it is appropriate for a woman to wear a leather mini skirt?

Asked by josie (30934points) July 29th, 2018

I am not that old.
Plus I like women, especially ones that would look good in a leather mini skirt.
But isn’t there a moment when it becomes inappropriate?
I see some [older] females in leather mini skirts and in spite of myself I think maybe it’s time to grow up.
I mean, when I was in my teens and twenties, I would wear a sleeveless T-shirt (sun’s out, guns out)
But as I approach middle age it seems silly, guns or not (plus I think I should cover up my tattoos that make references to death).
So what is that age?
Plus, when should guys abandon shirts without sleeves?

That’s not how age works, exactly. Age doesn’t mechanically precisely determine who a person is or what they’re like. Skirt appropriateness is subjective and what you’re talking about would be what the person is like, not their calendar age, per se.

I don’t consider “age” to be the appropriate measurement…instead body type to be it. I’ve seen old women who still looked hot when dressed like a kid. On the other hand, I’ve seen kids who looked gross when dressed inappropriately.

IMHO, Boys should stop wearing sleeveless shirts when they graduate from high school. After that, it looks ridiculous.

I am not brave enough to proscribe who should or should not wear a leather mini skirt. But I have friend who just celebrated her sixtieth birthday, and she still looks (and can dress) as hot as she did when she was 21.

When we were approaching our forty’s I had a friend who pointed out that the only good thing about getting older what that not only did the college women look good, but so did their mothers.

It isn’t about age; it’s about how she looks and how it makes her feel. I don’t care to see mini skirts on anyone but I’m modest and have been always. I did wear short skirts when I was young but not like what I think you are talking about. I’m somewhat modest, myself, so you won’t catch me in a teeny weeny leather miniskirt.

I’m not familiar enough of either trope to comment. I don’t think I’ve ever found any woman in a leather skirt sexy, but it has been less about what she wears. We have a saying, ‘Mutton dressed as lamb’ and that is applicable to both sexes. It is something, as a women in more advanced age, I am conscious of. I don’t think there is a specific age where it suddenly cuts off, but it does cut off with age. But you know what? It isn’t your job to decide… so you should just relax.

This has been inappropriate for all women of any age since Reagan was in office.

It is more a measure of mass distribution than age. If slender enough anyone of any age can wear one.

As long as wearing it with high heels, no age limit.

Until you finally reach the age that your legs fall off?

then it’s just a dress
