What branch of science does research into tachyon energy computing ?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24489points) January 27th, 2019

Faster than light computing would be a next step in computing power. Is anyone researching it? Can you please refer a book or lecture to listen to? How much would it improve computing if discovered?

Right after we reach “the speed of light”.
We are close, to speed of light, with the Large Hadron Collider.

They are hypothetical particles.
You do not know if they exist.
You do not know what kind of properties they would have.
There is nothing to base any kind of practical research upon.

@ragingloli I agree with you. I am just looking for a novel hobby. Am looking for more than just wondering and awe has to offer. It looked like a fun topic to write about, and read up on. If not science then science fiction. Just wondering where to start.

@ragingloli is correct. The only people who would be doing real research on it would be science fiction authors and quacks.

May I suggest quantum computing as an alternative area of interest? It has the advantage of not relying on hypothetical particles (as far as I understand the subject) and are actually being produced experimentally right now.
