Tips for returning a car after a lease?

Asked by trudacia (2513points) August 25th, 2008

I’m turning in my car in two days and I don’t know what to expect.

My dealer has informed me that they will inspect it upon return. I should also mention that I’m leasing another car from the same dealer.

It’s in very good condition (practically new) with the exception of a few scratches and a little nick in the leather seat. Will I be charged for this? Also, should I get it detailed before I return it?

Thanks for responding. I’m guessing we don’t have many “leasers” here…

my mom has leased a few cars and before we would return them to the dealer we always had them detailed first. One dealer was so impressed, he upgraded the package in the new leased car and he gave us a bunch of stuff from the gift shop (VW)......

Good advice. Thanks again.

This doesn’t directly address your question….but you might want to review the link to the article I posted in discussion of this question…..just to brace yourself against potential sticker shock during re-leasing negotiations.

good luck :)
