What movie has made you cry?

Asked by lucillelucillelucille (34325points) December 7th, 2019

This one did it for me and I haven’t watched it since.
I wonder if it would have the same affect if I watched it over 20 years later?

“Room” with Brie Larsson.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@janbb – I forgot about that one.

rebbel's avatar

Pffff, almost all (that I choose/chose to see).

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@rebbel – You need a comedy!

Graveyard of the Fireflies made me cry. A great animated film.

Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey in Beaches as well. Lol

The winner though is this Japanese 1998 film “Departures” ( made me cry 7 times while watching it )

josie's avatar

I’m not much of a movie cryer, but I have always been moved by the last 15 minutes or so of
“The Natural”
I’m all about redemption

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@mazingerz88 -“Departures” sounds interesting.
@josie- That is a good one. My hub has made me watch it multiple times. :)

I’ve cried during a lot of movies:

The Iron Giant
Toy Story 3
The Peanut Butter Falcon
The Fox and the Hound
127 Hours

Kramer vs Kramer
At the end when she allows custody to the father…bubbling my eyes out every single time.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@rockfan -I’ve seen “The Fox and the Hound” I remember:(

When I was younger, “Brian’s Song.” I don’t cry much.

Jons_Blond's avatar

Brokeback Mountain and
Legends of the Fall are the two that always get to me.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Jonsblond -I saw bits of both movies and the funny thing to me is Anthony Hopkins in his Cookie Monster suit. My friend who loves that movie, does not agree with my description lol

Jons_Blond's avatar

^Lucille lol, I get it. That’s one of my favorite movies. Now when I watch I’ll see Cookie Monster. :D

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Jonsblond -She fell in love with Brad after seeing it and I have to say, it is one reason to watch it.
“A River Runs Through it” was pretty good too.
and you’re welcome :D

Happy movies make me cry just as hard as sad movies. Give me a love story that turns out the way I see it & I become a babbling idiot!!! Even IF I’ve seen the movie before, I’ll start crying 2 seconds before the crying scene starts to play!!!

While in the rehab center after my stroke, all I had to do was hear the first 3 bars of the theme song for Highway To Heaven & I’d burst out crying. My nurse would be wheeling me back towards my room & we’d pass another room & I’d hear that music & I’d burst out crying. Anybody in the hall that didn’t know me would come over to comfort me & my nurse always told them. She’s upset because Highway To Heaven is coming on & we’re late. To this day, IF Highway To Heaven comes on a TV anywhere near me, I break out in tears. Oh yes, I LOVE that show!!!

All of them.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@raum – They do not!! Crybaby with Johnny Depp??

Dutchess_III's avatar

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape was awfully sad.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

^^ It ended with Gilbert free though.

LadyMarissa's avatar

^ Gilbert being freed is what made me cry!!!

ucme's avatar

I’ve saved this other one until now becuase I’m mildly ashamed.
What the hell, give me grief if you want.
I cried at the end of Wall-e when it looked like he’d lost his personality.
In my defence however, I was at the cinema with my kids & my son set me off.
Yeah that’s right, it was his fault lol

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme -Aww! I saw that movie & liked it.
Empathy is a very lovely human trait.

Dutchess_III's avatar

“Old Yeller” made my daughter sob hard after school. “Old Yeller got killed by a barb-wire cat!” Poor thing.

raum's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille Don’t recall if I’ve seen that one.

My friends still like to laugh about how I cried during Blow. I don’t even remember what made me cry. Now I’m curious and want to rewatch it.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@raum -Crybaby won’t make you cry unless you weep for the time you’ve just wasted.XD
I haven’t seen “Blow”.

raum's avatar

It’s about the rise and fall of a drug lord—which also happens to be played by Johnny Depp.

Nothing like cocaine and bloodshed to get those tears rolling.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@raum -It sounds like it tugs on the heartstrings.
Follow that up with Scarface and have a breakdown. LOL :)

anniereborn's avatar

I too cry out of happiness as much as sadness. I have cried during SO many movies.

Two recently seen movies I cried during were
This scene from Rocketman (not too spoilery)
This little gem

Many scenes from my favorite movie

filmfann's avatar

I never cried harder in a movie than when I watched Sophie’s Choice. Funny thing, I didn’t even like it.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@anniereborn-The Notebook is on my list
@filmfann -That one got me too.

janbb's avatar

Boys Don’t Cry made me. Powerful film.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@janbb -That one got me as well.

ucme's avatar

I’m slightly surprised no one has said E.T
That ending when he says goodbye & points to the kids heart saying “I’ll be right here”
Cuts me like a knife!

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme- I’ve never seen it. yeah, I know-lol

LadyMarissa's avatar

@ucme I’m with @lucillelucillelucille…I’ve never seen it either!!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

“Sinus supremus! Zero charisma! Sinus supremus!”
Penis-breath!”

LadyMarissa's avatar

This is a home video & not a movie; however, this baby made me boo hoo…so freakin precious!!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

That IS darling. I like the “soldier surprises their kids” clips, but my favorite one is this. I just love every thing about it.
