What do you have to do to get tested for Covid19 where you live?

Asked by SQUEEKY2 (19165points) April 13th, 2020

Here you just can’t get a test if you want it, you have to have come in contact with someone who has it or show signs of the illness, then your Doctor will refer you.

What is it like where you are and are they charging for it?

The same conditions as yours although I think you have to show signs of having it before they will test you No charge for it here.

Even though I’m about an hour away from a hot spot, we have to have symptoms and have been exposed to someone who is definitely positive. Just being exposed to someone positive or just having symptoms alone is not enough, here.

Then we have to call the Health Department and it takes a few days for them to get back to you. Once you get the test, it takes a few days to get the results. The whole thing is over a week, between calling the DOH and getting the results.
