Good online shopping cart software?

Asked by sdeutsch (4263points) September 11th, 2008

I’m setting up a web store for a friend, and I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for good (ideally free) shopping cart software. I’ve used Zen Cart before and found it very awkward and hard to navigate, so I want to find something a little more user-friendly this time around…

I’ve also been looking into shopping cart plugins for wordpress as an alternative, so if you have recommendations on that front, I’d love to hear them too!

osCommerce is great as far as I’m concerned. It has great support and loads of add-ons.
opencart Looks nice, but I’ve never used it.
prestashop also looks nice, but I’ve never used it.
And here’s the link to Magneto

I’ve used osCommerce and it really is stable and has a HUGE community. Magneto looks nice though, and prestashop looks like it has a nice interface as well.

osCommerce looks great! The others look pretty good too, but I’m definitely inclined to use something that I know people have used and liked.

I’ll download it and give it a whirl – my one big question is whether it’ll give me the flexibility to do this – any experience with doing that within osCommerce?

I’m sure that there is. You could either use sIFR or you could use FLIR to do text. You could use simple javascript to do it as well. I’m sure that there is a plugin for stationary, though, for oscommerce. I’ll check it out when I get an opportunity.

Excellent – I’ll check out the stationery plugins too. Thanks for the help!
