My weather radio turns off when unplugged, why?

Asked by SergeantQueen (12874points) June 26th, 2022

It has batteries in it. The book doesn’t troubleshoot it.

It’s a Midland weather alert radio

The batteries are the backup. Frickin duh!!!!

It’s 4am and I’m tired. It’ll still sound even when turned “off”. It’s to preserve the battery backup.

Yep. In some units the battery is only there to remember the time and the weather channel for your area.

Are the batteries rechargeable? Are they supposed to be? It takes special batteries to be rechargeable is why I ask.

So does my microwave. ;)

@SnipSnip your microwave has batteries in it as well?

Sorry if you don’t understand a wink. I should not have assumed.

@SnipSnip If it was a joke, it wasn’t very funny. That’s why I assumed you were making fun of me.
