Do meat butchers ever get a mutation from carving meat?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24463points) December 24th, 2022

Like an extra organ?
Or different shapes or parts?

No. It’s not like a piece of meat can jump up and bite them with mutant venom or something.

A mutation or a deformity? How could you tell the difference?

@snowberry Oh good point. I don’t know.

^^ NONE of us would know the difference even if we saw it with our own eyes. Still, a decent butcher would know the second that they look at it!!!

Having said that, I haven’t heard of any such situation occurring in my lifetime…although I’m pretty sure that it has happened at least once!!! We have humans born with extra appendages or an extra organ, so common sense tells me that it is possible in cows, pigs, chickens, etc.

We only have 1 butcher in here. The next time I speak to him, I’ll do my best to remember to ask him about this.

Never heard of anything like that. If it had happened, I’m sure someone in the old west butcher shops would have figured it out since meat had to be butchered daily for people who wanted it since there was no refrigeration..

Only the butcher I remember as a child who stood eight feet tall behind his huge and bloodstained apron.
