Why is it so cool to have an underground bunker?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24473points) January 21st, 2023

Why is self imprisonment joyful?

I would love to spend a year in a super secret base living with my rules and having fun with the freedom to do as I please.

I think that would be scary and I could not do that at all. Sorry but I have too many issues and need support around me.

For those that can do it, could be really a freeing experience.

I make my own rules and have the freedom to live as I want now…as long as I stay in my apartment. I would hate an underground bunker!

I NEVER found the underground bunkers cool!!! Most of my neighbors had them when I was little & they ALL seemed to be scared of having to use them. There a few rich kids that played in theirs like it was a playhouse; but other than that, they were a place that gave me a LOT of uneasiness!!!

Hey, when you all die in a nuclear flash, I get to slowly starve to death.

@filmfann My internet Google said that most nuclear radiation disappears to safe levels after 30 days, or less, after a blast.

@RedDeerGuy1 Seriously? Covid breaks out and we practically have gang wars over toilet paper!

@filmfann Hopefully the supply chain issues would be worked out next time life happens. I stocked up on tp years before covid. I get most of my groceries from delivery, so I don’t have to fight the raging hordes of shoppers.

It gives the guys a place to hang out without taking up any space, so can build a barbecue pit on top for when you want to hang with all. It’s fun to give it a name, too. If I had one would call it Basics. “Where ya going, Acrylic?” “Back to Basics for me now.”

@filmfann My dad agreed with you. He always said that he would prefer that we all bent over & kissed our asses goodbye as we fell over dead than stay in the bunker the recommended 30 days only to discover the soil was so contaminated that it couldn’t even grow a potato. PLUS…ALL the animals we used for food would have died in the process & wouldn’t be safe to eat!!! He wasn’t fond of the idea of watching his family starve to death.

@RedDeerGuy1 Do you really believe that 30 days to clear up crap??? It’s been something like 37 years since Chernobyl happened & they are still having problems!!! Good thing that they had food trucked in or it would have been a LOT worse!!! The supply chain would be nonexistent rather than a PITA because there would be NO one to ship anything IF they even had something to ship. So, it would no longer be an issue.

I think they’re great and would love to have one. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Plus you always save the last bullets for a worst-case scenario.
There’s a reason all the Alone, Survivor, Big Brother type shows are popular.

You can store potatoes and onions there, along with other canned goods.
