Have you seen a fireball?

Asked by kruger_d (6261points) November 17th, 2008

Fireballs are unusually large/close meteorite sitings. I saw one, and am curious to hear of other experiences. I have read that about 1 in 12,000 meteorite sightings are fireballs.

Yes—a few years ago on my way home from work we saw one from the car—it was beautiful, extraordinary, and little noted in the local media. It made me happy, though.

I saw a huge meteor on halloween night, it looked like a big firework trail but isntead of goin up it was traveling down.

Yes, during the August shower a few years ago. It was really awesome, it broke into a number of bits, then broke into a number of bits again and again. And it was green and blue and yellow and orange. The green really struck me. It was pretty.
