"What" are some good examples of inappropriately used quotation marks?

Asked by tonedef (3935points) November 19th, 2008

My friends and I always LOL whenever we see signs that use quotation marks in completely inappropriate ways, because it just looks ridiculous.

At the mall yesterday, I saw:

Will
“Flirt”
For Gifts

Any hilarious ones you can recall? Google turned up a treasure trove!

I laugh when people put air quotes around something ridiculous.

I’m obsessed with these, which is why I was thrilled to find The Blog of Unnecessary Quotation Marks

figbash, I think you mean The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks.

Haha! That’s what the link in the question was to, figster.

@bob: indeed… (you can’t put the extra quotation marks in there because it screws up the hyperlink..)

Oh…duh. I didn’t click on it because it said Google . . .

Sorry, I’m not paying attention today.

holy cow, that blog was hilarious. i was trying soo so hard to stifle my desire to laugh really loudly and for a long time in this deathly quiet office when i’m supposed to be proofreading an incredibly boring consulting agreement. the straw that broke my silence? “Apparently the thermal socks are saying goodbye to you. Bye socks!” oh god no, i looked at it again! that was a bad choice! bad bad chica!

must. stop. laughter.
