Women - Do any of you dread getting your period? Anybody welcome it?

Asked by answerjill (6198points) November 24th, 2008

For me, the only reason that I am happy to get my period each month is knowing that soon it will be overwith for another month. What have your experiences with menstruation been like? I don’t mean to exclude men from the conversation. They are, of course, welcome to chime in if they have anything to say on the topic.

I wish they’d make a pill that we could take on the first day, and then get it all done at once.

Dread, dread, dread.

Meh, not my favorite thing in the world, but really not so terrible.
I get bad cramps and food cravings and leg aches and bloated (TMI?), but it’s the most natural thing in the world.

I welcome it sometimes! (because it tells me I’m not pregnant)

I welcome it. It’s nice knowing my insides are functioning and that I could have babies if I wanted to!

@cheeb: I hear that. Bleeding and discomfort for a week is better than a baby you’re not prepared for.

I have been blessed with good periods. I get nasty cramps for the first two or three days but it’s smooth sailing from then on. Plus, I just started birth control (no such thing as TMI on Fluther, likeradar) and my roommate has promised me that my periods will get much shorter and that the cramps will all but disappear.

I dread it. It’s so much hassle and disomfort. I don’t yet have a cause to welcome it.

I never get cramps anymore…i use to, but they disappeared after my son was born.
