Is there a single word for a group of geographic scopes?

Asked by sferik (6121points) December 7th, 2008

For example, the following group of things:
[block, neighborhood, city, state, region, country]

Is there a single word that encapsulates all of these things? The closest word I could come up with was “locales”, but that’s not quite right (my country is not my locale).

What do you think about “spheres”?

@PupnTaco but “region” is one of the elements in the set!

@forestGeek “dwelling” implies a physical building. Not quite right. My country is not my dwelling.

Place? Space? Area? Locality? Environment? Whereabouts?

two words “geographic entity”?

“Geographic entity” is good. I would also submit “geographic unit.” I found this: Geographic unit: “A geographic unit is a named geopolitical entity that corresponds to a given geographic rank, such [as] a country or state. Geographic units, are organized in a hierarchical tree structure, where each unit belongs to a single, higher level unit.”
