How can I copy and send a folder of emails in Apple Mail?

Asked by lilakess (789points) December 10th, 2008

What’s the best way to do this? It seems like it shouldn’t be that hard.

or maybe it’s better to try to do this in gmail… anyone know about that?

You must compress the whole folder first. If you are on a mac and you option click there will be an option to “compress” the file. Select that and it will create a .zip file. use that to send.

I dont think that it will allow you to send the folder itself without doing this. The second option would be to select each item in the file and attache them all individually… Messy.

I misread. You are asking how to send emails that you have already received to somewhere else…

There are many answeres to this question and they are all dependant on how you have it all set up and what you intend on doing with them once they have been delivered.

To compress a folder simply right click (control + click) the folder and select “Compress Folder Name”. OSX will then create a zip file of the folder. Just drag and drop the zip file into your message in Apple Mail and send.

When I do this, compress is not an option.

ok. Are you actually in Mail when you are trying to send a folder that you have saved? Is it when you are in the application? Is the folder you are trying to send listed on the left-hand column?

If so. You need to export the folder. Right-Click (ctrl+click) and select “archive mailbox”. Save it to a place you will know and remember. Then try the process as it is explained above. After it is compressed it can be mailed.
