I think so.

I don’t know if they can wait, but I’m sure that if Bush does intervene he will find a way to screw it up.

No, he should just leave.

I don’t think the current situation will allow for things to wait until late January.

They are sinking as we speak (type?).

Chrysler is shutting down all plants for 4 weeks (instead of the typical 2 week holiday shut down).

President Bush has given them until 3/31 to repay the federal gov’t any money they borrow (HA!)

Really, I think he just gave them a 90 stay of execution. Likely 2 of the 3 will have to enter in some type of bankruptcy protection by that time….

Following his rationale, that’s exactly what he’s doing. This money intended just to keep them afloat. Then Obama’s gonna hafta to deal with them.

Without this money, they could conceivably go under and then Obama would need to deal with the repercussions of that instead of the automakers themselves.

I still think we should be talking about bail moreso than bailout.

i don’t know, it seems as if he’s doing as much as he can possibly fit in his schedule to leave more for the next administration.
