If you voted today for the next president, would you still vote the same way?

Just wanted to know how much buyer’s remorse there is out there.

I voted for Obama, and I would vote for him again in a heartbeat.

For the next president? I’d have to see who the other parties pit against the incumbent Obama.

cdwccrn's avatar

I meant if you voted again for the president to be inaugurated in 2009.

xxporkxsodaxx's avatar

YES! Without a second thought this time.

PupnTaco's avatar

Uh, yeah.

googlybear's avatar

Yup no buyer’s remorse here….although I have heard that some people have had remorse over the way they voted during the last two elections ;-)

AlfredaPrufrock's avatar

Yes, nothing to complain about here.

Jammond's avatar

who would complain? All he’s done is put together a moderate, experienced, and informed, post party-line cabinet.

figbash's avatar

Absolutely, although I am pretty disheartened and confused about the Warren pick.

dalepetrie's avatar

Hells yes. Zero regrets…not even “the Warren pick”, that issue is WAY overblown (even though it would be a cold day in Hell before I’d pick an evangelical to do anything for me).

Now Dale, You know that there are some “Evangelicals” you can love or at least respect. Especially those who don’t try to prostelitize and who are committed to communicating Jesus’ message of Love, forgiveness, and sacrifice. Politically we have been in total sync since I have been on Fluther. I may be liberal politically but personally I am about as evangelical as it gets. I just don’t think it’s my job or governments job to change people’s behavior. Everyone doesn’t have to be like me.

augustlan's avatar

No regrets. Obama again, today. Maybe ask this again in 3 years or so, after we’ve really had a chance to see and judge what he does or does not do!

Trustinglife's avatar

@Judi, can you explain what you mean by “personally I am about as evangelical as it gets.” I don’t understand. Do you mean religiously? Or something else. I’m just curious.

finkelitis's avatar

Absolutely. For the first time in eight years I’m hearing positive things from the (soon to be) executive branch. Science is welcome again in the white house! Ethics rules! For eight years everything I heard was the opposite of what I wanted to hear, and the opposite of what I believed my government should do. Now it seems to be reversed. It’s a huge weight off my shoulders feeling that my president actually represents me, and the interests of the American people.

I’d be curious to know if any McCain voters regret their vote.

jonsblond's avatar

Yes, I regret voting for McCain. I supported Clinton and was going to write her name in but at the last second voted McCain. Don’t get me wrong, I think Obama will do a fine job as president, I just felt that Clinton and McCain had more experience. Being from Illinois I knew my actual vote would not matter, so I voted for McCain in “protest”.

I voted for Obama in the November election, and I’d vote for him again. In fact, I like him better the more I know him! I did not vote for him in the primary election because I wanted someone with more experience, but I grow more and more impressed with his intelligence and maturity.

We have a difficult year or two or three ahead of us, but I am convinced that Obama knows what he is doing and will get us out of this financial crisis eventually. It’s nice to have hope!

Judi – I’ll say you’re a different type of evangeical than the one’s I’ve met. My impression was that the definition of evangelical was someone who felt it was their duty from God to convert people to their religion, and I think you believe what YOU want to believe, I’ll believe what I want to believe and let’s neither of us try to force our views down anyone’s throats. So yeah, you are AOK by me.

Judi's avatar

Thanks Dale,
My definition of and Evangelical is a Christian who trusts and is led by the Holy Spirit. It has nothing to do with beating faith into others.

Trustinglife's avatar

Judi, thanks for coming back here and sharing what your faith is about for you. I resonate with what you said.

By the way, you should try beating faith into people – it usually works, and it’s fun!~
