Care for WWII leather pistol holster and belt.

Liberated Germany officer service holster and belt. Black shiny finish looks pretty good, but seems somewhat dried out. what to do for leather care and preservation

Most conservators advise against attempting to apply any treatment to antique leather, but there are a couple of things you can use that will have little or no long term detrimental effect:

One is a dressing made especially for antique leather by Pecard

Or you can use pure lanolin

Neatsfoot oil, saddle soap, mink oil, etc. will actually shorten the life of the leather.
