**Shallow Question Ahead** Which would you rather have, money or looks?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) January 6th, 2009

The only stipulation here is that you can’t use your money for plastic surgery and buy good looks. Which do you think will get you farther in this world, money or good looks?

Honestly? Money.

Of the two, probably money so that i’d be able to do the things I want to do.

Good looks. I’d be confident; I’d have an advantage in getting any job; and, most likely, I’d be pretty smart. With that going for me, I doubt if lack of money would be a problem for long.

Even if you changed the rules to say if you choose good looks, you will never have money, I think I’d choose it. With good looks, you can get people to give you what you need. With a nice temperament to go along with it, you’ll have people eating out of your hand.

Money.

Looks fade eventually.

Good looks can get you lots of money…so I choose good looks. Unless this situation is where I can’t have money if I choose good looks. In that case I choose money.

Wisdom…
but short of that money to both have more time for my wife and I to do things like go back to Hawaii, and also to try and help people in need.

Money. The only thing good looks will get for you that money can’t is the false affections of a shallow mate who cares about surface beauty (as opposed to the false affections of a shallow mate who cares about money). Money, on the other hand, can pay for anything I want to buy or experience.

Money. If you have enough of that, nobody cares what you look like.

Money. Then I’d buy the looks.

dynamicduo's avatar

Money. Looks go away as you get older, but with smart investing, money only gets bigger.

RandomMrdan's avatar

I’m with Lighlyseared, I’d take the money, and go pay a surgeon to make me look good again =)

Looks.

Even if I were ugly, I could always make money.

jonsblond's avatar

At least with looks you will most likely be treated kindly and get alot of smiles. Money can’t buy happiness.

1) Looks DO NOT go away as you get older! I’m a perfect example of this. We only get
more gorgeous as our cheek fat falls down under our chins and our hair thins and turns
dry and white. I’m so grateful!
2) Money can buy quite a bit happiness if you aren’t an idiot about where you spend it.

Show me the money.

I’d say good looks, its the one thing you really can’t change and makes you feel good about yourself. Money you can usually get if you want it. But there are some things money can’t buy that good looks and charm can get you :D

Vincentt's avatar

Assuming money means “lots of money” (i.e. if you choose looks it doesn’t mean you’ll have no money at all), then I’ll go for the looks. I’m happy as I am, I’m not that rich but I don’t have a shortage of money either, and I’m incredibly sexy, so I’m OK with that :P

RandomMrdan's avatar

@lkid are you suggesting that person with poor looks would have no charm?

LKidKyle1985's avatar

No, I am saying that your charm would go further with good looks. Id rather have good looks and charm than money and charm. Maybe you should work on your charm Random.

tinyfaery's avatar

So far my good looks haven’t really helped much, unless you include having beautiful lovers. Money all the way. Beauty is all relative anyway.

MrItty's avatar

To all who believe “Money can’t buy happiness”, please send me $50, and watch me smile.

saranwrapper's avatar

I’m already really attractive and rich. So basically I order this question not to apply to me.

Nimis's avatar

I’m reading this as better-than-what-you’ve-got-now looks.
Which means different looks?

It’d be really weird to change how I look now.
So I’m going to have to go with money.

aanuszek1's avatar

If I chose money, does that mean I would be butt-ugly, or just average?

peedub's avatar

Can I be rich and goofy-looking? Or do I have to resemble basket case?

gimmedat's avatar

Where did you come up with a question like this?? Money, please.

suzyq2463's avatar

Money. Then I could buy plastic surgery and get the looks if I wanted them. But who cares what you look like if you’re rich? Shallow answer.

jrpowell's avatar

Both will result in sex. Flip a coin, I would still get laid.

Nimis's avatar

Even as Basket Case?

PupnTaco's avatar

Money. ~I’ve already got the looks that make the ladies swoon.~

ibadt's avatar

As long as my looks don’t scare little children, I’m going with money!
